13 February 2003

Hi folks,
Exciting news to report, 'The Australian National Youth Team' won Gold at the 2003 World Ice Hockey Championships held in Mexico, March 2003. Congratulations to all involved starting with Vlad Rubes, Sandi Haselgrove, Rob Donkersloot, team captain and Victoria's own Lliam Webster and former National Coaching Director Stewart Hicks. A sensational effort by all involved and an amazing result for Australian Hockey! The boys returned home Tuesday so be sure to offer a big congratulations on a monumental effort. Victorian players represented were Sean Jones, Dean Dunstan, Peter Matus (Asst Captain), Matt Pearson and Lliam Webster (Captain). Hope I didn't miss anyone! For more info regarding the trip visit the message board.

Pro League Playoffs - Finals start this Friday night (March 14) at Puckhandlers, 7:45pm! Johnno DeBoos and John Tsakmakis lead the 'Labeda Inferno' up against Daniel Gunn and Ross Fisher of the 'Bauer Reservoir Dogs' in the best of three league semi final (Fri 14th - Wed 19th - Fri 21st). The Red Star Bruins are straight in the grand final (Wed 26th - Fri 28th - Wed Apr 2nd) after finishing the league in first place and will play the winner of the Inferno/Dogs clash. The players all appreciate your support.
